Photometry & Lighting Laboratory

The Photometry and Lighting Laboratory is a structure included in the CNR - National Institute of Applied Optics of Florence, Italy.

The aim of this Laboratory is to develop research activities, also in collaboration with others laboratories, and measurements, design and consult activities.

At present the research activity is mainly devoted to the collaboration with the lab for the development of solar collectors.

The measurement activity developed in the recent years allows the P&L Lab to execute a set of standard measurements with established procedures. It is possible to optically characterize materials, to examine geometrically and spectrally the emission both of large luminous sources and of LED or optical fibers, to execute color measurements and to calibrate luxmeters. All these tests are performed with our instruments that are all certified and calibrated.  The Lab also assist for realizing optical systems for control or measurements purposes for industrial or medical applications or lighting simulation of sources, following if it is necessary also the realization phase.

The Laboratory participated to National and European Projects and it is open to collaboration offers with other research centers or industrial structures both public or private.

The Lab staff is able to realize training courses concerning radiometry, photometry, colorimetry and safe use of optical sources.

The Istituto Nazionale di Ottica Applicata has a Quality Management System and obtained the Certification for

    *   Research activity, tecnical support and optical measurements.
    *   Optical design and realisation of professional training activities in the field of optics

For a deepen knowledge about the work  made in this Lab please see the pages of this site and don't hesitate to contact the personnel.
