Castellammare di Stabia is located in
the centre of the gulf of Naples and marks the
beginning of the Sorrentine Peninsula. The city lies
at the foot of the Faito Mountain and is just
one hour by boat from Capri Island. Among
the different municipalities, Castellammare di Stabia borders the
cities of Pompeii and
Gragnano (city of pasta&wine).
Thanks to its particular position, the city offers unique climatic conditions: a combination of a temperate sea, woodland and mountain climate. The name of Castellammare di Stabia immediately calls to mind its two Spas, where 28 springs of mineral water are used for varied thermal treatments. Besides the natural beauties of the city, cultural and historical attractions such as the Cathedral, the Medieval Castle, the monuments and the works of art will entice the visitor. The Archeological Excavations (which have brought to light imposing, elegant Roman villas) and the Stabian Museum are evidence of the historical importance of the City, which was buried, along with Herculaneum, Pompeii, by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D..
